Unlikely yet fun places to travel all across the UK

If travel within the UK is more a chore than for pleasure, think again. Plan a UK break and head for one of our magnificent cities which could reveal more than you bargained for. Brighton and brighton hotels are in an envious seaside location, but with it also being a city, this is a perfect example of somewhere you may not have considered as a tourist destination.

As a city on the beach located on the south east coast of England, Brighton is more than just a seaside resort. Its beachfront location makes for some stunning coastal scenery while the cityscape beyond the beachfront, is a haven for all things cultural. Brighton plays host to many festivals and events focusing on everything from opera, theatre and music, to dance, design and art.

During the summer months, Brighton hotels, especially those in the city centre, get very busy. Partly due to the attraction of the beach on warm, sunny days but also because of the influx of festival goers. Aside from the seaside, visitor numbers are high around areas where the bulk of Brighton hotels are, such as near to the Marina, Pier and Royal Pavilion.

As a seemingly unlikely destination in the north east of England, Liverpool has a long maritime history. The famous Albert Dock still remains today and the area has been transformed into a popular attraction for tourists. It was given the status of a UNESCO world heritage site and while the dockside holds onto its past, today it has given way to budget Liverpool hotels, alongside modern bars and restaurants.

Along with some Liverpool hotels, The Tate Liverpool can also be found at the Albert Dock. Together with other galleries, art collections throughout the city include work from Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro Unknown to most, but an interesting fact nonetheless is that Liverpool houses the most museums of any UK city apart from London.

Historical buildings are abundant in Liverpool including two cathedrals, Liverpool Cathedral and Liverpool Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral. Central to the tourist market is guest accommodation which is often found in listed buildings. There is a good choice of accommodation throughout Liverpool both in the centre and further out of the city. Liverpool hotels do however, get booked up in advance of the Grand National weekend which is held at the racecourse in nearby Aintree.

The docks area of Cardiff was once a busy shipping port and housing area for migrant workers. Now a very desirable place to live, work and visit, Cardiff Bay has been made famous most recently for the filming of Doctor Who and spin off television series, Torchwood. Around the waterfront, you will find one of the most prestigious hotels in Cardiff Bay, St Davids Hotel and Spa and just across the way is Mermaid Quay packed with dining and entertainment venues.

Cardiff Bay has good public transport links to and from the city centre, ideal for travelling to where many important landmarks now are. The iconic building of the Wales Millennium Centre hosts musicals and the Senedd, home to the Welsh Assembly government and both are close to hotels in cardiff bay. These are just a few of the delights that UK city destinations have to offer in places where you would have otherwise not considered as tourist attractions.

Hotels in cardiff are another great place to escape in the UK just like the menzies hotel glasgow hotel in Scotland, they are both very tranquil calming destinations.
